The documentation says to use the OS package manager to uninstall Jaikoz but this does not seem to apply for Linux as the package manager (dpkg in my case) is unaware of Jaikoz.

Is it enough to simply remove the Jaikoz directory or does Jaikoz add/modify files in other directories during install or at runtime?

Just the Jaikoz directory will do the trick on Linux if installed in your home directory. If installed elsewhere there will also be a Jaikoz directory in your home directory to remove.
