@joe123,
did you pay for the feature "adding character TAG replacement"?
It seems to me that you are the only one, who wants that feature.
And if you can help yourself with mp3tag, than you have the solution.
Nope, I am still hopeful and patiently waiting.
I should add that I bought and paid for the license and then I also bought and paid for the upgrade Pro version.

Hi Joe123
Im sorry but I have literally hundreds of suggested enhancements, and your is not very high on that list. I'm not even sure it is a good idea because you want it in order to change artist name sto the incorrect form.
Surely better would be to embrace Musicbrainz and use the Musicbrainz form, possibly adding the releases missing from Musicbrainz into the Musicbrainz database from Jaikoz.

Ok, maybe I am doing this wrong so I will bite.
For people who need to search for a song by tag information, and that tag contains a character that the input medium (keyboard, whatever) does not have, how does one go about searching then?
For example, I have a song with Tag artist of "Lola Beltrán" and my device does not key the "á" character, how so I search for this artist?

You just need to type it in. There are plenty of different ways to do it even if you dont have a keyboard that shows that particular character on the keys. It may be different for different OS's. You could check your character map. Or one way I like to type them on my windows system is using alt key codes. Basically holding down the alt key then typing the 4 numeric digits on the keypad while its held down that represents that character. (on a side note, also great for making ones password a tad harder to hack as most dont include special characters in their brute force look ups) A quick google search brought up this page as an example of some of the characters:
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codealt.html
Depending on what your OS is, you can find additional ways of doing it by googling something along the lines of "How to type special characters in windows"
If you already have an artist that has that tag, you can just copy and paste it into the field. Some characters may show up as a Box instead if your OS does not have support for that character in the character set it uses. Windows with no language packs is horrible for that as it does not natively support utf-8.

Ok. So I have SageTV and I have a SageTV remote from which I can enter characters to search.
Please tell me how I can search "Beltrán" when there are no "á" on the remote?

So, why don't you write to SAGE TV that they implement the special characters to the remote control....
or pay the $100 USD for a customisation of Jaikoz.

To have SageTV re-create remote controls (hardware) with special keys would not be realistic.
As for the 100 bucks, we are talking about a very simple thing here. The software already has it for File names, it's just extending it to tag names.
MP3Tag has this feature in an enahanced format and MP3Tag is FREE. I already put a good chunck of change into Jaikoz thank you.

Clearly SAGE are not going to change the hardware just because you request it, but surely your realise its not realistic for you to expect me to priortitise a request from one user over requests made by multiple users. Also this relatively simple change still involves me deciding quite how it is going to work, adding preferences, then changing the code to use these new preferences, thats probably going to take me half a day in total.
Although one important piece of work which I have yet to do would be adding scripting/plugin support for Jaikoz then other devlopers/users could add functionality they would like that I havent provided myself.
But the SAGE Use Case is a more compelling then your original request, so I can see this being more useful to other users than first seemed so I will bump it up a bit but to be honest I still have alot of other things to do that take priority.
The fact that you have a workaround using Mp3Tag should mean this is not such a problem for you. Of course Jaikoz has many features that MP3Tag does't have, its not really practible for one piece of software to have every single good feature that is available in simailr software.

Hi joe123!
the thing with that "special" character is, that lots of charakters (á, é, í, ó, ú, ý) can have
such a little string on top (that is called acute accent) so there is no need to have a special character,
just type the acute accent (on my keyboard on top right) before you type the character
that you want to have it on. (and do not mix it up with the " ' " Apostroph (like in: it's to late or: rock'n'roll)
Same thing with the tilde ~ in: Señor
or: â = a with Zirkumflex
My personal opinion ist that a search for "a" should find the "á" too

Hi.
The problem is that for those of us with MP3 music on devices which do not have a special keyboard, we cannot locate any song with any type of special character.
For me, SageTV is one of those cases. Also, for my family members, we all use normal keyboards and it's the same problem unless you happen to remember the keyboard translation option or have a special keyboard.
