Seems like it's not getting the same attention as Songkong. Doesn't seem fair to Jaikoz users!

Mike

Jaikoz is not getting dumped !

But Jaikoz development is currently behind schedule because

1. Firstly SongKong is the newer easier to use product and I have been concentrating on releasing and then improving it

2. Because SongKongs UI is much simpler than Jaikoz it is easier for me to add new features to SongKong first and then add them to Jaikoz, so things to get added to SongKong first.

3. There are some big code/infrastructure changes I want to make to Jaikoz and the difficulty of this this has delayed adding new features like mod tagging.

4.I am also looking at possible opportunities for modified cmdline only/blackbox versions of SongKong, such opportunities are not available for Jaikoz

Whilst I would like to make significant improvements to Jaikoz I only have limited resources available, and this has slowed development. This is not something I am happy about but my level of Sales do not allow me to employ anyone else. As a customer supporting Jaikoz through reviews and talking about it online would help me to increase sales and therefore help you, because with increased sales I would love to be able to employ someone else.

But please remember if your purchased Jaikoz back in 2006 you still benefit from all the improvements without any extra charges, I think that is very fair to customers !

The fact is I've been waiting for mood tagging implementation into Jaikoz for about a year now. Could I swap my Jaikoz license with Songkong?

No, sorry not after all this time you'll have to purchase an additional SongKong license if you want SongKong.

I've tried songkong and I would have paid for it if I'd liked it. But actually I don't think it's worth it (if you have Jaikoz, I mean). The only reason I'm asking is because of the inconsistent updates Jaikoz has been getting in the past year.

Of course its your choice, but you seem to be saying I owe you a free copy because I havent done as many updates to Jaikoz as I have for SongKong, this line of reasoning makes no sense to me.

I find it a pity that it's not possible to predict when the next version is released.

Why? Paul is obviously doing what he can with the software even the software giants with hoards of developers get caught up in hard times and can't always deliver consistently. I think it's even beyond amazing that he is extremely responsive to almost every forum post ever on here.. You'll find that most small devs give up on their software after a short time and won't offer any help or be available for any kind of contact.

Just relax, kick back and enjoy your music and he'll eventually get things rolling along.

I would like to add that I find Jaikoz TOTALLY worth its price, as it is superior to its competition in so many ways I don't have time to list them. To imagine it getting even better (if not as fast as one might like) is still awesome.

And Paul, I have practically become a salesman for Jaikoz on the MediaMonkey forums. And I consider my advocacy a favor to those with whom I share the word.

Keep up the efforts, the program is a tool I wouldn't want to be without!

I too agree that your doing a good job. Sorry for bugging you. Although I have a Jaikoz pro license, I ended up buying SongKong Pro, as I too feel it worthwhile supporting your efforts. Email is accardonino@gmail.com, I paid 30 minutes ago but still didn't get the license. Can you check into that, Paul?

Thanks Mike1361, sorry there is an intermittent issue with songkongPro license creation but you should have it now.

I did, thanks. Was looking at Songkong deletion options. Which should I choose just to have one acoustically identical song regardless of album? Will this leave the highest resolution dupe? Thanks.

Select Sounds the same Only on the Basic tab. On the Advanced tab you can set deletion criteria which by default keeps the best resolution format (e.g lossless rather than lossy), then if you have multiple songs with the same format it keep the one with the highest bit rate

Why are some songs not getting loaded when deleting duplicates?

These songs aren't loaded with fix option either. Jaikoz loads them fine.

I've checked the help file, so it seems that these songs are corrupt. How certain is that?

Is there a way to move these songs to a folder?

No because never loads them so it cant do anything with them, but if you send me your support files (Help:Create Support Files) I should be able to give you a better idea of what the problem is.

OK, I'll send you them tomorrow. Last question: what happens if the renamning mask has to rename two files with an identical filename? Will it stop working or just put a number after the filename?

Posted two questions on the forums...close to seven days ago..no responses and still not 'approved' to have the questions posted...

Weekends are limited, which is my only freetime, not getting help for a paid product seven days is memorable - e-mails were even sent....was looking at SongKong and most are the reviews are negative

Currently looking for alternatives..

Close to two weeks later, I found out the answers to my questions...minus the transcoding one.

In a nutshell, if you have Jaikoz there is little reason to have Songkong.

Yet, I don't think it is right to alienate the Jaikoz users.

This is evident when I tried to give Paul the benefit of the doubt, and assumed he was just on vacation....don't think this is the case.
Yet, why is there a vacation 'notice' from the past in the SongKong forums and not the Jaikoz forums?

You want people to pay twice for essentially the same program?

It makes more sense to send out a mass e-mail to Jaikoz users and offer them an upgrade 'fee' to go from Jaikoz to SongKong and just shut down Jaikoz.
This was offered when you created Jaikoz Pro and the main improvement was the 5000 discog limit was removed for PRO.

Yes, Jaikoz users do get free upgrades for life, yet if their program is only getting updated once a year and the other program is getting updated once every 30 days......doesn't really matter, does it?

You have stated yourself that Jaikoz is more work, with little return.

If you want to capitalize your return, you should change how you go about things...

I guarantee you that you got little return when you gave out free licenses on PS Audio.. You give free licenses to reviewers/major bloggers/YouTubers, not some average Jo Schmo on some forum.

I've already given my opinion about how to optimtize your marketing/sales via PM in the past, yet you was nervous of it being cracked.

I regularly use both Jaikoz and SongKong, they are both completely different programs with two different purposes.. I am happy to have paid for both, I can't see how SongKong could ever replace Jaikoz, Jaikoz allows for full manual editing and tons more advanced capabilities than SongKong. SK's only purpose is to auto identify and tag, if it can't auto match it doesn't do anything.. This is where you need Jaikoz to fill in the blanks.

If someone only uses Jaikoz to match the tracks via the Acosutic ID, then it is a moot point.

Because a lot of freeware allows manual editing such as Mp3tag.
