First of all, I think Jaikoz is a great program and the best out there. However, Jaikoz does a very poor job of finding Album Art in my opinion.

I recently download Music Monkey and a plug in called "Batch Art Finder 4.0" from:

http://trixmoto.net/mm/topten.php

It it does a fantastic job of finding missing Album Art from Google. In my large and exotic music collection, Jaikoz found less than 50% of Album Art work, and using MusicMonkey with this plugin, it found ~95% with amazing accuracy.

The above is free while Jaikoz is not. I highly encorage Paul to take a look at the above and incorporated something similar it into Jaikoz.

Not really comparing apples & apples are you? I don't think it is fair to use Paul's forum for such blatant promotion of another product. Jaikoz does have its faults like any software package but it also runs on every platform and has many more features than a plugin that specializes in doing a single task.

If you have bother to read enough of my posts and the first sentence I wrote in this post, I have been saying and I keep prasing Jaikoz as the best.

Let me repeat for you in case you already forgot, Jaikoz is the BEST mp3 tagger available today in my opinion. I bought a copy and I cannot be happier.

Having said that, no program is perfect. The weakest part in Jaikoz is the Album Art extractor in my opinion. It can be made better and I am encouraging Paul to make it as good as the free verions avialable today which uses Google for the Album Art.

Many of us would rather use only ONE mp3 tagger like Jaikoz instead of having to use multiple taggers to achive the same results.

I use the same script, and it is fabulous.

I would be thrilled if jaikoz added something like this along with and mp3gain type normalizer.

Right now I use Batch Art Finder for media monkey. I also use mp3gain. And the I use the lastfmtagextractor script, although that has not been as big a priority since grouping was added to jaikoz. I still get better results with the last.fm script though.

So, in short
I love jaikoz, but wish I could get art finding as good as the previously mentioned script
I also wish I could get as good of grouping results as last.fm gets, and just as much last.fm integration as possible really.
And I would love to be able to do an albumgain while autocorrecting. Would save so much trouble!

But I know I can get this done, so if other features/bugs are fixed that keep it the best I don't mind these things being low priority. Mp3gain seems like a simple addition though.

Yes, that's also my opinion. Jaikoz needs more and better Sources (f.e. Google pictures) to find covers. For around 50% of my collection Jaikoz do not find any cover! That's a bad quote! There is a free programm, what do this job better: "Creevity Mp3 Cover Downloader". So it's painfull, that this free programm does a better cover job than Jaikoz, for what I've paid! Also I would wish, that Jaikoz doesn't only look for Album Covers, also for Single Covers. At the beginning of tagging it should be possible to select "Look for Album Covers" or "Look for Single Covers".

The problem with using google images to my mind is accuracy, do you want Jaikoz to pick the image automatically or just present you with a list of images and let you pick one. If the second of course you just open a browser do a search then drag the image onto the Jaikoz file, then you copy/paste to set for the rest of the album. pretty painless but I realise not as good as completely integrated solution.

My preferred solution is really to increase the number of links from Musicbrainz to Discogs because Discogs usually has good quality artwork, but I realize a second source such as Google Images is probably needed.

Hi Paul,

thank you for your quick answer. I think, a good solution would be the option in Jaikoz, that one can use, when the automaticaly tagging is finnished. Maybe you can integrate the same working way like Creevity MP3-Cover downloader inside of Jaikoz.

Yes. Anything that will make Jaikoz fetch more Album art collection.

Any idea if this has already been done or in a future setup?

I find jaikoz does a great job at finding the majority of mainstream albums out there. However not everything has images in musicbrainz or discogs. I find this program to be an awesome additional tool. I use it all the time to find anything that is still missing album artwork after I do my auto corrects. It is updated often so it pulls from a lot of great different sources.

Cool & thank you. I will give it a try.

Yes, Jaikoz is the best MP3 tagger out there in my opinion as well. Few know about it as Jaikoz is not well advertised, but it is the best!

EDIT: I tried it. Is there any way to have it automatically load up the mp3 songs and have it ask you for a best match? I have 30k songs and it's hard to cut and paste several hundred artist names and albulm titles.

I am not aware of any id3 tag reading functionality for that app. Maybe a custom script, like an autohotkey type script could do it, /shrug

I have my collection broken down by album (each in its own folder), not song, so it is not quite that slow, but still does take some time to find each album. I typically just find the artwork I like for the album and toss it in the corresponding folder. Then after I do this for a few hundred albums, I load them into jaikoz and do an local correct for artwork so it automatically loads it into all the songs. It is somewhat painful, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to my music collection, so i spend WAY to much time on it. I also typically will go in and edit all the coverart to be perfectly square so that it looks good on my coverart screensaver, player, and website.

I have seen a few other programs interface with the app to make it more automated, but to get jaikoz to do this you would either need to create your own custom macros or wait for the plugin feature in jaikoz to be implemented so one could create a bridge.

Are there any news concerning this? Thats my wish, too.

I would like to download cover art and include them in the mp3-file. Discogs is a good source, but i have lot's of missing cover. An automatic download process from amazon.com or google would be very nice!

Especial lots of art downloader are based on albums. But i have lot's of singles in my collection therefore i need cover for singles. This offers no software...

Thanks!

That were great - and if you are able to program a solution, that you are able to download the cover of single's, too and not only albums, would make jaikoz unique - i think no other program has such a function.

Thank you.
