Hi Paul, I wanted to test the songkong install on my qnap following your guide found here http://www.jthink.net/songkong/install_docker_qnap.jsp but do not seem to have access via myqnapip/4567.

Is there anything else that isn't in your guide that I should be doing? I've tried opening the port on my router but this doesn't work..thx

Ok, the port was only added on the container and not the host for some reason...all sorted. thx!
It just doesn't show my file structure...only a "music" folder

How do I get there Paul? I tried via the terminal and the file station but haven't found it...

Ah, looking at your screenshot I dont think you did step 14, this is optional but is required to view logs outside of SongKong, so could you redo but ensuring you did step 14.

yep. ran a report and the result is:

Status Report Summary
Summarizes metadata completeness of your songs, for each field it shows the percentage of songs that have this metadata. You can improve your metadata by using the automatic Fix Songs task

Song Metadata Completeness Summary
Selected Folder : /music
Unable to load any songs

Okay so you can actually connect and run it then but when you start songkong under the /music mount point it doesn't show any of your music ?

..and also its weird that console is showing debug log file as being in /home/songkong rather than just /songkong

can you email support@jthink.net screenshot of start page

Hmm, I wanted to check it was seeing as a docker install and because just showing music end point it looks like it is, and I assume you have correctly mapped /Music to your actual music folder, could it be a permissions issue, does songkong docker have permissions to see files in that folder ?

Bit confused why it says the logs are in /home/songkong rather than /songkong though. Unfortunately on my Qnap (that I havent used since Xmas) it is currently hanging when I try to open Container Station so I cannot at the moment check anything on my side.

I've just sent you another screen with the shared folder's setup so you can check it.

The music's folder is in the multimedia share, accessible by admin in read/write. How do I check the docker's permission on it?

I must confess I'm not entirely sure, I am new Qnap myself but it seems like Docker doesn't have permissions to see those files, actually can you run Create Support Files from the main SongKong start page this should send me your logs files and I can check if there is a permissions issue.

This is an interesting one https://blog.linuxserver.io/2017/09/17/how-to-setup-containers-on-qnap/

The guides advise to create a specific user for the container so that it doesn't use the root access and can be flexible in terms of access rights...

I am not at home at the moment so cannot test this but will bo when I go back. Maybe you should integrate this user creation within your guide to prevent any access rights issue

Thanks for the logs, okay it is a permission issue you do not have access to see the contents of /share/Mutimedia/Audio (via /music)

That guide is useful, actually we do create a user called songkong (with group songkong) as part of the the Docker https://hub.docker.com/r/songkong/songkong/dockerfile (we dont run as root). But I am thinking the issue is that this does not relate to any real user on your system.

So if you create real songkong user on your Qnap, give them permissions to your multimedia folder and possibly configure PUID/PGID then Im confident it will work.

I'm also thinking that maybe for the user I create as part of the container the group should be everyone not songkong. Its worth noting that SongKong was working fine for me on my qnap without having to do anything else, but it has only been tested by me on this one server.

I'll give that a try this evening and get back you for an update.

Cheers!

One thing you could do is go into FileStation, select the shared folder and right click and select Properties, and send screenshots of the two tabs.

Another thing I don't understand is that I don't have a Multimedia folder, but it seems this is some kind of standard on Qnap ?

here you go for the two screens.

The multimedia share is automatically created in qnap but as I remember you have to enable multimedia content during first instalation but don't take my word for it and do a bit of research on that if you need.

If you scroll down on that first screenshot is there a line for everyone, if not you could try adding it with Read/Write and then refreshing in SongKong

If that doesn't work you could try changing Guest Access Right to give full access and see if that works (I realize you may not want to do this longterm)

For some reason when I look at my folder I don't have the option to set guest permissions, and i just see standard Owner/Group/Other permissions rather than a line per user, I dont know why my display is different to yours.

Did you give permissions to new user for folder at Audio and Multimedia levels

and did you do this bit

and possibly configure PUID/PGID then Im confident it will work.

and restart Container
