When I open any of the forums I get a lot of junk at the top. See the attached image.

Heh Iv'e never noticed this, not sure why you get it and I don't , but a load of new spam crap was posted yesterday and because you have moderation permission you were alerted to the fact that there were alot of messages to approve/reject.

A number of long term/regular users have been made moderaters mainly so that when you do a new post it is added to the forum immediately and doesn't need approval, but you can also approve other user messages.

Yeah that is the moderator queue for message approvals. Yesterday there was a bot that was posting about 100+ messages per category. I cleared out most of them. Bot used around 10 accounts and just spammed throughout the night.
