Sorry, bit of a noob, here do I find the support files?

Yes, the MB server search works from a browser (it's running on the Mac that's also hosting the MB VM.

I've not had any problems with VirtualBox on the Mac and the indexes rebuilt without a problem, other than running for 24+ hours.

I've bounced everything since my last post and Jaikoz seems to be working, but no luck with Song Kong. I'm not getting the 503 error anymore, but it's still not matching any songs on the local MB server.

I have a large number of songs to tag/repair and wanted to use a local Musicbrainz server to speed up the process.

Environment info:

iMac 27-inch, Late 2009
OSX 10.9 (Mavericks)
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB

VM server
4 GB
2 cores

IP of host: (static)
IP of VM server (DHCP)

Song Kong: 1.13.0
Jaikoz 6.0.5
java version "1.6.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-11M4609)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)

Musicbrainz VM server 2013-10-14
VirtualBox 4.3.2 r90405

Above OS and applications all current as of 2013-11-27.

Both Song Kong and Jaikoz work fine when using the MusicBrainz server at www.musicbrainz.org

I downloaded the VM Musicbrainz server (running on the same computer as the apps) and installed it using the instructions posted here and here. I reindexed the database, forced a replication and turned on automatic replication.

I pointed a browser to the VM server ( and got to the local Musicbrainz search page without issue. I was able to search and pull up data.

I then pointed Song Kong and Jaikoz to the VM server ( and for both apps I get a 503, Service unavailable error.

I don't have any firewalls anywhere on my network and assume that the VM doesn't have one since I can reach it via a browser.

What could I be doing wrong?

What platform are you on? On Mac, I run Tidy Up to remove empty folders from my working folder. any folders left will have the non-music files some of the above posters mention (I search for some of those ahead of time since I keep any of them really). It's amazing how many music videos I didn't know I had by looking in the remaining folders!

I use both a Mac nad Linux. For the tag editing I've been using the Mac.

Still, the way I see and understand the current process, I still have to deal with manually moving the non-music files.

After thinking about this last night a simplier soultion came to mind. The current process when renaming a folder is to create a new folder with the new name and then the app moves the music files to the new folder. This results in two problems, non-music files are not copies and the old folder is left behind to deal with manually. Instead, just simply rename the current folder. This would deal with non-music files and the extra folder. Other taggers I've used before (Easytag?) have done this.
I'm a new user...

Has this been addressed? I'm behind a proxy at work so it's not a big need.

Moving other files
If a folder contains other files, like a folder.jpg, include the option of moving these at the same time as the folder renaming process.

I just purchased this software so I'm still climbing up the learning curve. When I renamed a folder, etc. I discovered that any non-music files were not moved with them. I'm afraid I'll have to wait for this feature before I can begin a large scale re-tagging of my files.

Also I would like to see the folder renamed instead of creating a new folder. The current method adds the extra task of manually deleting the old folder.
