Author Message
Paul,

I was gone from the end of Jan through the first week of Mar and not sure of this status of this problem.

Was there anything that you needed from from me?

Thanks

Robert

Paul

There is something going on with "Save and Move" or Save and Copy"

Everything work fine with "Save Changes"

Again all my test are I just read in the music file into jaikoz and then do a "Save and Move" or Save and Copy" and the file name gets changed.

With the "Save and Copy" the music files that were copied to the new directory have the problem, but the original files are ok.
Sorry I was not clear on this.

I keep my music files in a separate, non iTune, folder while I work on them.

In the past when I am ready to move them to iTunes, I would move the files into jaikoz and then do a Save & Move to the iTune directory which use to work.

Now I have to read the files in, work on them, and then do a Save Changes, then outside of jaikoz, I manually move the files to the iTunes directory.

I hope this explains it better.

Robert
It does not happen if I change the subdirectory and then do a Save Change.
Yes.

I just read the files in and do Save & Move or Save & Copy nothing else, and it happens. I even tried a Save & Move to the same place and it happened.

The only work around is to modify the file metadata and then do Save Changes. Then move the files to my itunes directory.

It does not seem to happen if I just do a Save Changes after making changes.
Sent it again. Please let me know if you received.

Sent it to support@jthink.net

Robert
I have sent you the requested info to support@

Thanks for your help.

Robert
Jaikoz 9.1.0 NGS V 1160 Mac OSX 10.11.6

I am going to describe the problem with an example as it is easier to explain.

I open up Jaikoz and read in a file that I have already processed in the past. The filename is in the format album_discno_trackno_artist_title.

Good Time_01_03_Alan Jackson_I Wish I Could Back Up.m4a

Now i want to save and copy the file to another directory and use the Save & Copy or Save & Move. When I do S&C I now get an extra extension as follows:

Good Time_01_03_Alan Jackson_I Wish I Could Back Up m4a.m4a

This happens when I read in the file and S&C or S&M it to another directory. It does not seem to happen if I modify the file and replace it with just the Save command.

I tried to think back to any preferences that I have changed that would cause but nothing rings a bell.

The fact that I can read the file in and then turn around and do a S&C and it causes the extra m4a to appear puzzles me.

Also I noticed that the it is " m4a" that is getting added.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Robert
Paul,

Sorry for the rash of questions but have been away for a while and trying to get caught up.

Concerning "preferences/MusicBrain/format."

Not sure how the "Never modify these fields:" and "Only modify these fields if empty:" works. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I assume that the values that I move to the selected fields is what will be acted on.

What happens if I only move Album from available to selected for Never Modify?

What happens if I only move Album from available to selected for Only Modify?

What happens if I move Album to moth Never and Only Modify.

So, under never modify, if I move Album from available fields to selected fields then Album will not be modified even if empty?

If I only wanted to update empty fields, can I move all the fields from Available to Selected for both Never Modify and Only Modify?

Robert

Can you explain what the grouping field is used for? I am not sure if I am using it correctly.

Is this a field that users can or supposed to update?

Does it have anything to do the MB Release Group id?

I have been putting a unique number in the field, such as Amazon ID, for all the tracks in a disc. Since this field does not seem to get updated from MB, if something happens to my metadata I can get all the files back per disk.

It has saved my butt a couple times but maybe it is supposed to be used in a different way. Sometimes I am just winging it.

Thanks

Robert

Paul,

I like to keep my format structure the same so does it hurt anything to use

BASE / Artist / Album / Disc No / Filename (when multi disc album)

Does it hurt if I always put a /Disc No/ even if it is only one disc?

Robert
Paul

Thanks very much for your fast reply. This is a great help.

Robert
Running JAIKOZ 9.1.0 build 1160

I have a entry in Jaikoz with the album name

Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1955

which has multiple artist CD. This album does have an entry in MB

MBID: b9337b30-b28b-4156-9853-bae181f95316

With this version when I run "autocorrect metadata from MB server" a lot of the entries get updated with the original artist and album.

How to I get Jaikoz to look for info from this Album

There are so many preference settings I am probably just not seeing something.

Thanks

Robert

I am trying to automate a certain task and that task includes running "Remove White Space" to get rid of a space in the front of a field and "Remove Wide Space" to get rid of multiple spaces.

At one time in the past I thought this was an "Available Task" which could be added to the "Autocorrector Tasks" list. But I do not see it their.

I would really like to be able to hit the "AutoCorrect Songs" button and have these two tasks run on my data.

Is there a way to do this?

Something Like This The Bob Newhart Anthology_01_01_Bob Newhart_Abe Lincoln vs. Madison Avenue.m4a

My file name is made up as follows:

AlbumName_DiscNo_TrackNo_Artist_Title

In Preferemces/File and Folder Correct/ there is an option that allows you to replace From character with a To character for file and folders but this does not seem to work for my case. It seem that the To has to have a value.

Is there another autocorrect way to do this?

Thanks very much

I think I have figured this out. This biggest problem is that there was not very user friendly when try to interface to test. Just a lot of trial and error until I figured out how things were working.

What would be nice is if Preferemces/File and Folder Correct/ could be set to not have to have a To value. A space seems to work but in some cases has a problem like when it put a white space at the front of the line. I know I can remove them but I am trying to automate the process and not have to run things manually.

I have been using Jaikoz for some time now and I create my folder schema in a structure that seemed to work for me at the time.

I am think about going over my music collection with the newest Jaikoz to see if I can get more information, as a lot of my files were run with very old version of Jaikoz. I have a large collection of Classical music and I see the newest version has some parameter just for Classical music.

What I want to know is what would be the best folder schema for the Jaikoz software.

Currently my structure is

BASE / Album / Artist / Album (disc no) / Filename

This structure seems to work for me but maybe I am missing using certain features in Jaikoz because of my structure. I have seen some suggestion with

BASE / Artist / Album / Filename

Now would be a good time to make the switch to a new structure. What would be the pros for going with the later.

I tried to find past forum posting but did not find much information but then maybe I was not using the right search words. If this has been answered in another forum posting please let me know.

Thanks

Robert

Under Local Correct / Delete Duplicates it ask "Song is duplicate if" and one of the answers is "It has he same MB Id and Release ID as another song".

I have looked under Table / Columns to add this to my Edit table but I do not see any MB Id. I see many other MB ???? but not this one.

Is it under a different MB name?

Thanks

HI, never seen this but I expect the debug log file will show us, please jsut send your support files (Advanced:Create Support Files)

Paul,

Well it seems that it was a Mac OS disk problem and nothing to do with Jaikoz.

It only happened when I was saving the same group of files in Jaikoz. Never saw it any other time, which is why I had blinders on and not look at other reasons outside of Jaikoz.

Actually Disk Utility could not repair and I had to restore from TM.

Thanks for helping me take the blinders off.

You can filter rows using the TagBrowser.

You can fiter using Search button, this searches the artist, genre, album and title fields.

Task are only applied to all visible rows if nothing selected in row header so you can close selected songs by selecting their row header and selecting close leaving you with just the ones you want to work on. You can apply a task on certain songs by selecting their row header and then selecting a task

But you cant temporarily mark songs in the way you request. Got me thinking though that if I extended Search to search on the Custom fields (Custom 1 - Custom 5) then you use Set Value to enter a value and then search to only show those records, is that worth me doing ?

If the custon fields is easy to do and not to much trouble that would work for what I want to do.

I will have to look over your other suggestions and try them out.

Thanks

Robert

Trying to clean up a group of songs, I get a pop up window about "Bad address" when I save the files. See the console log below.

My problem is that I cannot determine which file is causing the problem.

What does it mean by "these have been left with status of changed" and how can I determine which file(s) are causing the problem?

May 17, 2015 5:49:33 PM: INFO: 4,963 files are loaded
May 17, 2015 5:52:53 PM: INFO: Started to force save changes to all songs

May 17, 2015 5:54:44 PM: INFO: Completed deletion of 0 songs

Is it possible to some how mark the files that you want to work with.

Let say that I have one column that has some fields filled in an other not. I can then sort the column, which will put all the blank fields at the top and the filled in fields at the bottom.

I would some how like to tag the filled in fields rows so that I can work with just them.

Thanks

Robert
Can you explain the difference between:

1) Standard artist name and name on display cover

2) Standard song title instead of the title displayed on the cover

3) Use recording artist instead of track Artist

Also as I was perusing through the forum looking for the above answers I saw where you said Jaikoz Pro can add BPM. Can you tell me where this is found?

Thanks very much.

Robert

PS: Are you a Rugby fan. Will you be going to the Rugby World Cup games? Over the past two years I have been able to get Rugby through DirecTV and have been watching Super 8 league and the national team games when they are on, as it is on when the US college football season is not. Not a big fan of the NFL.

Excuse the rambling.

I run time machine.

I need to find the preferences, to get the Rename Mask for both file and folder.

I found the settings.jai and settings.old files, but they look to be in some kind of binary file.

Can you tell me the correct file to get the Rename Mask.

Robert

I check the "is compilation" box on albums that have various artists.

I leave it blank if the artist is the same for all the songs.

Is that what it is used for.

Can you tell me what other purposes it has, if any?

Robert
I have looked all over but cannot find out how to "select a row".

Probably a forest for the trees problem.

Thanks

Paul,

I have 5.6.0 Pro.

I went to Jaikoz preference and went to the musicbrainz:Automatch but I do not see any of these options. Can you point me to the right place.

Robert

In the column header there is a "Empty Column" selection that removed all values in the column.

A lot of time I want to add something to the column that I just empty. Is there some way like CTRL-A to pick all the cells in just the column. CTRL-A picks all the cells in all the column.

The problem comes when you have more entries that will fit on a page. Then you have to anchor the top cell and the scroll down to the bottom cell and then anchor.

Could there be a "Select Column" entry to select all the entries in the column.

Thanks

Robert

I use jaikoz for my music and some talking books.

I would like a different format for my books than I do for my music.

Any way, inside jaikoz, to have mutiple rename mask?

Robert
Paul,

It is not such a big deal. It is easy to go to the the column header and say empty.

But it would be nice if that column had a "do not populate" button.

Thanks for your time and information.
